Why Most “Green” And “Natural” Cleaners Are A Cheat

By Water Liberty March 11, 2019 0 comments

Each day more and more people are jumping onto the “green” bandwagon as an attempt protect themselves and families from the hidden dangers in chemical products. It’s no secret anymore that many of these concoctions are loaded with carcinogens that damage the neurological, reproductive, and hormonal systems.

But did you know there is no law that requires cleaning products manufacturers to list ingredients on their labels or to even test their products for safety?

These so-called “green” and “natural” alternatives may not be as safe as you think. Some so-called alternative “green” products substitute harmful ingredients for other equally harmful ones that have not yet been tested.  A “natural” ingredient can react with other chemicals, or even air and create unknown byproducts with unknown damaging effects.

Because product labeling is not heavily standardized, using the term ‘green’ and ‘organic’ has now become a selling tactic. According to the National Environmental Trust, even organic compounds can impair neurological functions, while other chemicals can act as respiratory irritants, carcinogens or reproductive toxins.

These chemicals make cleaning easier, but they don’t make cleaning any better,” reports Tom Natan of the National Environmental Trust. To clean your house, “all you really need is some baking soda and vinegar“, Natan said, adding that it’s what he uses himself.
