We want to share with you some inspirational eco-friendly initiatives in the U.S.A. Even though ‘greener‘ and more sustainable methods of living can hype us up, sometimes we still find ourselves a bit overwhelmed…

First of all, we look down and see plastic trash and cigarette butts littering the city streets. Then when we look up, we only to see giant Hummer trucks drive by pointlessly guzzling gas away.

We check our email. We get another update of devastating mining spill that just spewed toxic sludge across acres of pristine rocky mountain wildlife…

The news is always so negative since we don’t always get to hear about all the pro-active things going on.

So today we want to celebrate progress. Here are some really cool eco-friendly projects going on right now in America. They are moving us forward in the right direction.

Current projects in America

1. Solar Energy

"Today, solar is the fastest-growing source of renewable energy in America,” reports Rhone Resch the CEO and President of The Solar Energy Industries Association.

Photovoltaic systems on the structures of the Long Beach Convention Center and Long Beach Airport make California the top American state for solar energy. The Convention Center houses one of the largest public-facility solar installations on the West Coast. It generates 1 million kilowatt-hours of pollution-free electricity.

2. Wind Energy. Texas is the nation’s top state for wind power. It saves more than 8.1 billion gallons of water while reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 22 million metric tons each year!

3. Organic Farming.

Organic Valley in La Farge, Wisconsin is the largest organic farming co-op in North America. State, village, federal and private funding combined allows the co-op to produce sustainable food products. The 45,000 square-foot barn was built with locally sourced materials. These materials were recycled and after the construction, all the waste was recycled.

We don’t know about you, but now, after reading those eco-friendly initiatives, we’re good to go!
