According to a recent study done by the journal Free Radical Biology and Medicine, because of one of the main chemical ingredients in mouthwash, Chlorhexidine, the good bacteria in your mouth that help blood vessels relax are wiped out. This then causes your blood pressure to rise and increases your risk of heart attack.
Also for a while now its been debated that alcohol containing mouthwashes cause oral cancer.
Looks like regular oral hygiene is a health hazard now. So don’t risk it. Never wash your mouth again.

Homemade Peppermint Mouthwash Recipe
- 8 ounces of filtered or boiled water
- 2-3 drops peppermint essential oil
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda (the aluminum free kind)
Baking soda safely neutralizes the odors in your mouth, rather than just covering them up and the peppermint oil has natural anti-fungal and antibacterial properties and it also provides that ‘pop’ of minty freshness.
Mix the ingredients together in a clean container and store it in a dark cupboard or medicine cabinet because sunlight causes essential oils to lose their potency.
